DMO stands for Dual Mode Off-road. BYD developed this Super Hybrid architecture to combine efficient urban driving with the performance needed for off-road use.
The system brings together a turbocharged petrol engine, a Blade Battery and electric motors. Intelligent power management helps balance performance and efficiency across different driving conditions.
The BYD SHARK DMO is engineered to deliver strong performance when travelling over challenging terrain. Its hybrid powertrain combines the response of electric motors with petrol-engine support to provide power when it is needed.
Double-wishbone suspension and high-strength underbody protection are part of the DMO architecture, helping the vehicle tackle rougher surfaces while supporting a composed driving experience.
The SHARK DMO features a five-seat double-cab layout, providing space for passengers alongside the utility of a pick-up. Its cabin is designed to support both working days and leisure journeys.

The BYD SHARK DMO uses an electric-first hybrid approach, allowing the vehicle to travel on electric power alone for suitable journeys while retaining petrol-engine support for longer trips.
BYD states an electric-only range of up to 90 km and a combined range of up to 675 km on a full charge and a full tank of petrol. Actual range can vary with driving conditions and vehicle use.
The BYD SHARK DMO combines its hybrid powertrain with useful technology for work and leisure. Its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function allows the vehicle to supply power to compatible external devices, adding flexibility when away from conventional power sources.
With two onboard power sockets, V2L can support a range of equipment and devices, helping the SHARK DMO adapt to outdoor activities and practical tasks.
